Encircled by seven hills known as "Sapta-Shring," with Lake Naini in the centre, Nainital first appeared in an edition of the ‘Englishman Calcutta'.

Pantnagar Airport is the nearest  airport that serves Nainital (65 km).

  • Every Saturday afternoon, famed novelist Ruskin Bond visits the Cambridge Book Shop in Kulri Bazaar to autograph books and meet his followers.This chance encounter is another unexpected and exciting part of this trip.
  • A cable car to Gun Hill will take you to an observation point. On a clear day, one can gaze at the spectacular vistas of many white-tipped Himalayan peaks.
  • Kempty Falls, developed by the British as a picnic spot in the 1830s, is a popular Mussoorie attraction. Sit, and have piping hot  Maggi or momos after splashing in the pool formed at the bottom of the fall.
  • Lal Tibba offers views of peaks such as Bandarpunch, Kedarnath, and Badrinath on a clear day.

Dehradun railway station is the nearest railhead (35 km)

Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun is the nearest airport (50 km)

Less than 2 kilometres from Mussoorie International school is the Surbee Resort.   • At the nearby Garjiya Devi Temple a big fair comes up on Kartik Poornima.
  • Twenty seven kilometres from Ramnagar are the Corbett falls- a place to trek to and have picnics. Also, visit the Corbett Museum at Kaladhungi for a peep into the life of the famous hunter.
  • Dhikala is the most well-known of the popular tourist locations in Jim Corbett National Park. It is on the outskirts of the Patli Dun valley, where the Ramganga flows.
  • Buy souvenirs like coasters, and hunter jackets from the Shop at Corbett National park gates. You can also shop for local fruit preserves, honey and woollens to take back home.

How to reach Ramnagar/ Corbett Park:

The nearest railway station from Corbett is Ramnagar. It is around 12 km from the park and is directly connected to the railway stations in Delhi. 

By road, the distance between Delhi and Corbett is 270 km.

The nearest Domestic Airport is Pantnagar, roughly one and half hours drive from Corbett.

Mukteshwar is 353km from Delhi, 51km from Nainital, and 42 km from Haldwani.
