Why Visit Himachal in Summers- We Give You 10 Important Reasons

10 important reasons for holidays in Himachal

Shimla, the summer capital of colonialists, was once a small hamlet interspersed with dense forests of chir and pine. Later, Shimla became the favourite destination for travellers but far more enchanting places have captured the attention of tourists now. We discuss in this blog reasons for visiting Himachal this summer.

Scenery

  • Holidays are meant to rejuvenate: Scenic places do it with ease. Whether it is the Rohtang pass with snow-bound mountains on either side, or the ChandraTal in Spiti that reflects the blue skies, or the quiet woods in Chail- The state has it all.
  • On the Tibetan border, the Chitkul village is known for its natural beauty and charming architecture, while the ancient village of Manikaran, with its gurudwara  and natural hot springs, draws both trekkers and devotees. The reasons to visit are endless.

Proximity and connectivity

  • Previously, the hilly terrain deterred people from visiting Himachal's beautiful locales. However, a well-developed network of roads, tunnels, and airports has made them accessible to all.
  • Bhuntar airport in Kullu, Chandigarh airport, and Delhi airport have further enhanced Himachal's connectivity with the rest of the country.
  • Eight national Highways and a huge fleet of buses owned by Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC),  help in connecting all the major cities and towns within the state as well as outside.

Ambient Climate

Himachal holidays are an escape from the heat, dust, and crowds of the plains. The weather in the state is very pleasant during summers with temperatures between 22- 37 celsius. At higher altitudes, you even come across snow.

Adventure

Himachal has it all:

  • Every year, Bir Billing, the paragliding centre, hosts the World Paragliding Championship. The thrilling sport is suitable for both novices and experts.
  • The Lahaul-Spiti valley's high altitude, desert landscape, rivers, and trekking trails provide adventures, unlike any other place.
  • Manali and Kullu are well-known for river rafting on the Beas River, while Solang Valley offers zorbing, paragliding, cable car rides, camping, and much more.
  • The Parvati Valley and KheerGanga are two of India's best treks. In addition, Sangla is one of the few places in the world where you can go on a glacier trek.

A sanctuary for those seeking to reconnect with themselves and nature has found the best address- NIbaana Resorts, Dharamshala with sky grazing

Dhauladhar range and the Beas river flowing through the valley are home to the Dalai lama. Experience the spiritual calm of the place in the rooms built with traditional slate and wood combinations for comfort. Discover genuine life experiences inside the constraints of this rich cultural hillside by awakening your senses to the welcoming song of the mynah or taking a calm stroll through the serene expanse.

Religious

This land is home to old temples, white-washed Gompas, and colonial churches that satisfy both the soul and the body. Hard stones are aesthetically married to pliant wood in Kath Kuni architecture.

  • The traditional Kullu Dusshera celebrations last seven days and includes dancing, singing, feasting, and cultural events.
  • Saka Daw is a Buddhist festival held in June to commemorate Lord Buddha's life. View the Cham Dance (Mask Dance), complete with elaborate masks and costumes.
  • The Kangra valley festival and Shoolini fair at Solan besides the Chamba valley’s Manimahesh yatra are huge draws for tourists in summers.

Cuisine

Himachal cuisine is a delectable fusion of Tibetan and Indian flavours, with each dish generously seasoned with local spices. Do not miss the following foods:

  • Siddu is a Himachali steamed bun made with wheat dough and stuffed with ground walnuts, almonds, and poppy seeds.
  • Madra delicacy is indigenous to the lovely district of Chamba.
  • Babru is widely available in Shimla's local restaurants, and it pairs perfectly with a hot cup of tea.
  • Buckwheat leaves cooked in wheat flour with milk, and sugar are the main ingredients of Aktori, which is extremely popular in Lahaul and Spiti.

Fruit, jams, and conserves- see and eat them

Many people associate Himachal with apples, but there are many other fruits that you can eat only in this state.

  • The Kala hisalu, with its sweet-sour taste and vibrant deep purple colour.
  • Only in Himachal can you savour the taste of Kafal berry.
  • Among the many fruits grown here, try the Anjeer/Dhude, luscious Khabani, and wine-colored Anjeer.
  • Many entrepreneurs are making authentic jams and chutneys that are not available anywhere else.Take home the authentic stuff. e.

Meena Bagh, Ratnari is a four-bedroom bungalow right in the middle of an apple orchard. The tranquility of the place is best for family get-togethers where you can watch the mountains change colours while sitting in the cozy sunroom.

Shopping

Himachal Pradesh has something for everyone, including Kullu shawls and local tweeds, Tibetan carpets and handicrafts, the famous Chamba and Kangra paintings depicting royal scenes, Radha-Krishna tales, and woodcraft from walnut, chestnut trees.

 Flora and fauna

April to November is also the best time to visit any of the top wildlife sanctuaries or national parks when you will be able to see flora and fauna native to this area.

  • Renuka Wildlife Sanctuary in Nahan is home to many species such as Shisham and Cordia, as well as fauna such as  Leopard, Spotted Deer, Jackal, Blue jay, Porcupine, and Scarlet Minivet among others.
  • Pin Valley National Park is home to the endangered snow leopard,  Siberian Ibex, Bharal, Red Fox, and bird species such as Himalayan Snow Cock, Golden Eagle, Griffon, and many more.
  • The Great Himalayan National Park is home to Musk Deer, Brown Bear, Goral, T, Snow Leopard, Bharal, Monal, Kalij, Tragopan, as well as flora such as Deodar

Above all the People

The simplicity of Himachal Pradesh's culture is another reason. Whether they speak Punjabi, Pahari, Dogri, Kangri, or Kinnauri, at heart the Himachalis are simple people. The tribes of Gaddis, Kinnars, Gujjars, Pangawals, and Lahaulis are equally welcoming with their hospitality and smiles.
